Darrell Waltrip's storied Winston Cup Career began in May 1972 at the Talladega Motor Speedway in Alabama. Waltrip rolled onto the track in a 1971 #95 Mercury Cyclone prepared by Holman Moody. Ironically, the chassis of this car was that of the original 1967 Ford Fairlane Mario Andretti drove to victory in the 1967 Daytona 500. The car was owned by Waltrip and sponsored by Terminal Transport of Owensboro, Kentucky.
